Open Your Eyes

Munsyid : Maher Zain

Look around yourselves
Can't you see this wonder
Spreaded in front of you
The clouds floating by
The skies are clear and blue
Planets in the orbits
The moon and the sun
Such perfect harmony

Let's start question in ourselves
Isn't this proof enough for us
Or are we so blind
To push it all aside..
No..

We just have to
Open our eyes, our hearts, and minds
If we just look bright to see the signs
We can't keep hiding from the truth
Let it take us by surprise
Take us in the best way
(Allah..)
Guide us every single day..
(Allah..)
Keep us close to You
Until the end of time..

Look inside yourselves
Such a perfect order
Hiding in yourselves
Running in your veins
What about anger love and pain
And all the things you're feeling
Can you touch them with your hand?
So are they really there?

Lets start question in ourselves
Isn't this proof enough for us?
Or are we so blind
To push it all aside..?
No..

We just have to
Open our eyes, our hearts, and minds
If we just look bright to see the signs
We can't keep hiding from the truth
Let it take us by surprise
Take us in the best way
(Allah..)
Guide us every single day..
(Allah..)
Keep us close to You
Until the end of time..

When a baby's born
So helpless and weak
And you're watching him growing..
So why deny
Whats in front of your eyes
The biggest miracle of life..

We just have to
Open our eyes, our hearts, and minds
If we just look quiet we'll see the signs
We can't keep hiding from the truth
Let it take us by surprise
Take us in the best way
(Allah..)
Guide us every single day..
(Allah..)
Keep us close to You
Until the end of time..

Open your eyes and hearts and minds
If you just look bright to see the signs
We can't keep hiding from the truth
Let it take us by surprise
Take us in the best way
(Allah..)
Guide us every single day..
(Allah..)
Keep us close to You
Until the end of time..

Allah..
You created everything
We belong to You
Ya Robb we raise our hands
Forever we thank You..

Alhamdulillah..
الحمد الله

Answer 4 The Cross Word Puzzle

Collaboration & Team Working

Analysis For The Survey

x-file-protection honestly to present to you about our survey. (>.<)

The bar chart for the online survey has been made to summarize the report of the respondents toward the questionnaire which is published in the previous post in order to determine either Malaysian concern about the policy or not. From that survey, we can conclude that the malaysian know about new economy policy survey.

Here we share about history  new economy policy and also answer to our question. The Malaysian New Economic Policy (NEP or DEB for Dasar Ekonomi Baru in Malay), was an ambitious and controversial socio-economic restructuring affirmative action program launched by the Malaysian government in 1971 under the then Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak. The NEP ended in 1990, and was succeeded by the National Development Policy in 1991. Although the NEP was hailed in some quarters as having reduced the socioeconomic disparity between the Chinese minority and Malay majority, others accused it of having reduced non-Malays to the status of second-class citizens by cementing ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy). The NEP is often invoked as part of the Malay Agenda, which is in turn part of the Malaysian social contract granting Malays special rights in return for citizenship for non-Malays.The NEP's success is a subject of heated debate. The NEP targeted a 30% share of the economy for the Bumiputra, but according to official government statistics, the NEP did not succeed in reaching this target. Although the policy ended officially in 1990, Malaysians often refer to the NEP in the present tense because many of the tangible economic benefits it offered the Bumiputra are ongoing. In 2005, some politicians from the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the leading political party of the governing Barisan Nasional coalition, called for the restoration of the NEP as part of the New National Agenda (NNA).
In 2008, the chief minister of the state of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, made a breakthrough decision whereby he announced that the new state administration will be free from NEP.

Lastly, the new economy in Malaysia should be improved and developed to increase up the quality in economy in competing with others country. In addition, the economy policy has given impact to ethnic relation.

being a malaysian.proud of!

The entire week, we have been discussing about the ethnic issue, racism, prejudiced and maybe a little bit about discrimination.
i am very interested today to share what my advisor, En Ahmad told about Allahyarhamah Yasmin Ahmad.
the truth is, i am not very familiar with all her advertisement stuff and movie but then i realized that she has multi talent and she is good!
it's not easy to direct a movie where chinese, malays and indians are in. and what i admired the most is she are not even scared to produced that kind of movie and advertisement.
this is something that i should be proud of.
and then,
my friend Azlin Salehuddin brought up some message that is like yeah, we need to remember all those people.
he explained about Allahyarham Sudirman and what he has done to his nation. he explained  about some topic mostly about the race, about the people in the village, about our freedom day in his lyrics. just like Yasmin Ahmad did in all her work. a very tremendous art of work then!
and onother actor that we can't even forget about, P.Ramlee.
and this person, i admired the most.
because of what? because what he has.
his films, his songs, his jokes and his private life.it's all about him.well, you know what it is right?

Well, it's been awhile since my previous entry. There are thousands of people in our country that has a various kind of talent that can really brought malaysia in the eyes of the world. But somehow, it is us that didn't really appreciate what these people did. To my teammates, Nor suaida and Nadhrah Azmi, i am proud to be a Malaysian!what about you??

Have a nice day then..

1 Malaysia Barber Shop

" 1 MALAYSIA "

1 Malaysia is an on-going political program designed by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak on September 16, 2008. It is to emphasize ethnic harmony, national unity, and efficient governance. The more important are 1 Malaysia mainly stresses national unity and ethnic tolerance. The 2010 values of 1 Malaysia as articulated by Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Bin Abdul Tun Razak are perseverance, a culture of excellence, acceptance, loyalty, education, humility, integrity, and meritocracy. So, the government is committed to carrying out a transformation program as its main agenda based on approaches and philosophy of 1 Malaysia "People First, Performance Now".

The picture above show the "1 Malaysia Barber Shop". Wow!!! I'm really interested to know about it when I read the news paper about an half of month ago. In the picture we can see the owner of that shop shown his initiative to attract people from each races to use his services. That's why, he had implement the slogan of "1 Malaysia" in his business which is coincides with the recommendations of our  Prime Minister Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak.

However, we must remember that even "1 Malaysia" becomes so important to our country and maybe to ourselves, but don't forget that the most important is as a Muslims we must implementing Islamic teaching in our life. Always balancing life and the hereafter. Then, it can guarantee us to have God's pleasure.

being prejudice

We have just left our "HARI MALAYSIA" in just few days. what did we celebrate the day?
before this, Malaysian only  have independence day, hari raya, chinese new year, deepavali, and what else??
forget about it.
what i really want to share today is about being discriminate in your own country.
have you ever had the feeling?
to me, i'm not so sure. not the right answer though.ok. i have some point. but this is only my opinion. i'm not really touch about the sensitive issue. but we have the right to give an opinion!

my point

1.if some you think being a Malaysian and you have some feeling about being discriminate. i'm not. i am a malay girl.just ordinary girl with "pagar besi" and i deserve to being indiscriminate.
because of what? because we, Malay or bumiputra have special privilege.

2. my friend Syakirah said in the class that UITM is one of the example of being discriminate to Chinese and Indians. my opinion is, this is what government should do to all Malays and bumiputra. back again with the topic of special privilege.

3. Chinese hold the economy of Malaysia. Indians in professional sector such lawyer and doctor.majority of Malays working with the government. this is the scenario nowadays.don't blame government for what they did for the Malays. because this is what they should do.

4. Chinese has a tendency to go for private college, overseas university because they can afford  that. UKM,USM,UM,UPM is the places with plenty of Chinese and Indians are studying in. because only the issue of UITM, doesn't make sense.

this is only my opinion. if you have any idea or even the better point, leave your comment.
we can share and learn at the same time.
have a nice day!

kyrgyzstan christian receiving death threats as ethnics violence

I am a little bit excited to share the story i have read . The article was written by  Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent BosNewsLife .

"Kyrgyz Christians were risking their lives Thursday, June 17, to help and shelter Uzbek believers in southern Kyrgystan, where ethnic clashes killed at least 190 people, injured 1,800 others and uprooted some 400,000 residents, Christian aid workers said.

"Amid the carnage, Kyrgyz Christians are trying to help their Uzbek brothers and sisters escape the violence – despite the prospect of severe retribution from fellow Kyrgyz if they are caught," explained Barnabas Fund, a group supporting minority Christians in predominantly Islamic nations.

A Kyrgyz pastor, identified only as Pastor K. for security reasons, his wife and church members are among Kyrgyz  Christians receiving death threats for supporting Uzbek Christians, added the group.

"On Tuesday, June 15, Pastor K. and some members of his church were helping an Uzbek Christian woman to find a safe place when they were stopped by an angry mob, armed with knives and axes. The group demanded to know who Pastor K. was trying to help a and threatened to set fire to his car and kill them," Barnabas Fund said.

"A man wielding an axe came close to cutting off the pastor’s arm. When Pastor K. told the mob that he was distributing aid, they kept three Christian women, including his wife,  hostage and went with him to see where the aid was being distributed, to check the truth of his story," Barnabas Fund told BosNewsLife."

Ramadhan mubarak to all brothers and sister.

Moon for start of Ramadan was sighted in various countries around the world including Malaysia.
First Tarawih Prayer will be after Isha of Tuesday 10th August 2010.
First Fast of Ramadan will be  Wednesday 11th August 2010
"Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you who witness this month shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may substitute the same number of other days. GOD wishes for you convenience, not hardship, that you may fulfill your obligations, and to glorify GOD for guiding you, and to express your appreciation."
The purpose of fasting is not to just get hungry and thirsty but it is to become "soleh". So one should stay away from  Un-Islamic things such as:

  • Getting angry
  • Using Bad language
  • Back biting and gossip
  • Arguing and fighting with Muslims.
  • Being rude and impolite
  • Looking, touching , flirting with non-mehrems of the opposite sex.
  • lying  and cheating
  • Engaging in riba (interest, usury)
  • women non wearing Hijab
  • men shaving beards and having cloths below ankles
  • allying with the enemies of Islam against the Muslims
  • promoting Un-Islamic ideologies such as democracy and socialism.
  • basically staying away from anything that is Haram
In Ramadan the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are shut, and the syaitan (devils) are tied up and the reward for good deeds, acts of charity and acts of worship are multiplied in this month.

Malaysia ethnic group

The population of Malaysia consists of three main ethnic groups—Malays, Chinese, and peoples of the South Asian subcontinent. Malays and other indigenous groups are known as Bumiputras ("sons of the soil"). Estimates for 2000 reported the following distribution: Malays and other indigenous groups (Bumiputras), 58%; Chinese, 24%; persons of Indian descent, 8%; and other groups, 10%. Malays predominate in the rural areas, while the Chinese are concentrated in urban and mining areas, where they control much of the nation's wealth; enmity between the two communities has occasionally erupted into violence. The non-Malay indigenous groups on the peninsula are collectively called the Orang Asli (aborigines) and number about 50,000.
Non-Malay indigenous tribes constitute about half of Sarawak's residents; the largest indigenous group consists of the Sea Dayaks, or Ibans, followed by the Land Dayaks, or Bidayuh. The majority of Sabah's population consists of indigenous peoples, principally Kadazans, Bajaus, and Muruts. The balance is dominated by Chinese.

Hari Membakar Quran Antarabangsa

""""""""""    On September 11, 2010, the extremist evangelical dove world church — whose pastor, Terry Jones, has written a book called "islam is of the devill” — plans to host “international burn a quran day,” when it will burn Muslims’ sacred text and encourage others across the world to do so as well. Churchmember Wayne Sapp has even posted an instructional video that explains how and why to burn the Islamic text.
CNN host Rick Sanchez invited Jones on his show yesterday to ask him about the inflammatory action. When Sanchez pressed Jones about why he would try to anger the world’s Muslims by burning their sacred text, the evangelical pastor replied, “Well, for one thing, to us, the book is not sacred,” provoking laughter from the CNN host.
Jones later went on to explain, “What we are also doing by the burning of the Quran, we’re saying stop, stop to Islam, stop to Islamic law, stop to brutality. We have nothing against Muslims, they are welcome in our country.” When Sanchez asked him how he would feel if Muslims burned the Bible, Jones admitted he wouldn’t like it but emphasized that it was his “right” to burn the Islamic text because “we live in America”:Jones wrote a book titled "Islam is of the Devil," and the church sells coffee mugs and shirts featuring the phrase.

Muslims and many other Christians -- including some evangelicals -- are fighting the initiative.
The church launched a YouTube channel to disseminate its messages.
"I mean ask yourself, have you ever really seen a really happy Muslim? As they're on the way to Mecca? As they gather together in the mosque on the floor? Does it look like a real religion of joy?" Jones asks in one of his YouTube posts.
"No, to me it looks like a religion of the devil."
SANCHEZ: Do you know how many Muslims there are in the world?
JONES: I think there are 1.5 billion.
SANCHEZ: Yeah. I ask you that because that’s a very big number. Why would you want to do this to 1.5 billion people by burning their most sacred book? That’s crazy.
JONES: Well, for one thing, to us, the book is not sacred.
SANCHEZ: But it is to them, it’s sacred to them. [...]
JONES: What we’re also doing by the burning of the Quran on 9/11 is we’re saying stop. Stop to Islam. Stop to Islamic law. Stop to brutality. We have nothing against Muslims, they are welcome in our country.[...]
SANCHEZ: How would you feel if a Muslim said to you, what you just said to them? I have no problem with you Mr. Christian, you’re welcome in my country, but I’m burning your Bible.
JONES: I would not like it. But it’s our right. We live in America!       """""""

This is the time for all the Muslims around the world to show the “power of doa” and the “power of prayer”. Lets pray together and protect the blessed al-Quran

what we are expecting as a muslim??
pray and pray. we have to protect Al- Quran!

where it all began

This week task is generally more about  the history. We are given a plain paper to sketch and a little bit of a conversation. The task has been successfully published on our last post.take a look and give your comment.
ok
In this week post, what if we get back  to malacca period where parameswara got the name of 'malacca'?
as all of us has been taught before in secondary school, malacca was established by the mouse events that happened in front of Parameswara. The idea to run Malacca was successful because of his background and his experienced. Due to his systematic and strategy, the sultanate of malacca extended its borders over the whole of peninsula including china. At the height of it's power, malacca has been one of the greatest and the most feared place to be. His political issue, administrative, strategic position, and because of his 'HANG'. malacca was very well-known among the outsiders. we can see clearly now in malacca, they still got their famous A-famosa which has been constructed more than 100 years. This is a symbol and still nowadays, we can see the baba nyonya, 'peranakan' people, the dance adapted from the portuguese and even the language that the dutch used like sudu.the only word i remember from my last class in primary school.sorry!.the journey continues with the story of sultanate malacca wants to marry hang li po. the story of hang tuah and his siblings.and the history began!

FIRST TASK

This week arrival is basicly based on what we have learned with encik ahmad, our beloved lecturer who has been teaching us for about three weeks. we have been doing so much fun in the class with those activities which me and my team mates think, these activities are the coolest thing ever.In the first activity, we are given the task, where we have to find the words in the "puzzle words".
The words is based on our subtopic and main topic. all the words is very useful in ethnic relation subject where we have to know the meaning for each one of them. below is the meaning for those the words that we have found.

+Enculturation is the process by which a person learns the requirements of the culture by which he or she is surrounded, and acquires values and behaviors that are appropriate or necessary in that culture.

+Pluralism is used, often in different ways, across a wide range of topics to denote a diversity of views, and stands in opposition to one single approach or method of interpretation.

+A nation is a group of people who share common history, culture, ethnic origin and language, often possessing or seeking its own government.

+Racism is the belief that the genetic factors which constitute race are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

+Assimilation the process of receiving new facts or of responding to new situations in conformity with what is already available to consciousness.

+Accommodation is a dwelling or place of temporary residence.

+Discrimination is a sociological term referring to the treatment taken toward or against a person of a certain group in consideration based solely on class or category.

+A prejudice is a prejudgment. For example a preconceived belief, opinion, or judgment made without recourse to reason; drawing typically instead upon received information or upon instinctual preference. The word prejudice is most commonly used to refer to a preconceived judgment toward a people or a person because of race, social class, gender, ethnicity, age, disability, political beliefs, religion, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics.

+A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions. Generally speaking, stereotypes are not based on objective truth but rather subjective and sometimes unverifiable content-matter.

+Acculturation is the exchange of cultural features that results when groups of individuals having different cultures come into continuous first hand contact; the original cultural patterns of either or both groups may be altered, but the groups remain distinct.

+Ethnocentrism is the tendency to believe that one's ethnic or cultural group is centrally important, and that all other groups are measured in relation to one's own. The ethnocentric individual will judge other groups relative to his or her own particular ethnic group or culture, especially with concern to language, behavior, customs, and religion.

+Segregation is the separation or isolation of a race, class, or ethnic group by enforced or voluntary residence in a restricted area, by barriers to social intercourse, by separate educational facilities.
